`Alternative Nobel Prize` awarded in Stockholm

Baku, December 6 (AZERTAC). The Right Livelihood Award, also known as the `Alternative Nobel Prize` was awarded in the Swedish Parliament building on Monday.

The prize is awarded for outstanding achievements that have not been covered by the prestigious Nobel Prize. The `Alternative Nobel Prize` was established in 1980 on the initiative of writer and researcher Jakob von Uexkull and is presented annually in early December.

145 organizations and public figures from 61 countries have since been awarded the prize.
