AMERICAN-AZERBAIJANI EDUCAITON CENTER OPENED IN BAKU
The Ambassador stressed that American-Azerbaijani education center had brought together the offices of all American education programs, which is to facilitate the PR sphere.
“4 programs financed by the US Department of State will be functioning in the center: IREX, ACCELS, Project Harmony and Baku Education Information Center. At the same time, the American library will also be accommodated there ”, R. Harnish said.
The US ambassador noted that the center would promote replenishment of the book fund and equipment of libraries of Azerbaijan, provide a free access to Internet and serve as a resource center for persons educated in the US.
He mentioned that US Administration has assigned USD 40m for education programs and many graduates of American universities hold important positions today.
“I have recently met with a group of graduates in Ganja and will organize such a meeting in Baku. I know, science, education and culture are of great significance for Azerbaijani nation. The same can be related to American nation. I hope that this center will bring our nations together and help develop Azerbaijani society.”- R. Harnish concluded.
Education Minister congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on American-Azerbaijani Center’s opening. He noted that center would strengthen and develop ties between the countries in education sphere. “I highly appreciate this and thank the US ambassador for attention he pays to education development in Azerbaijan” - M. Mardanov concluded.
Then, R. Harnish and M. Mardanov cut a red ribbon symbolizing the opening of the American-Azerbaijani Education Center and acquitted with its rooms.
