ANNIVERSARY OF NATIONAL LEADER OF AZERBAIJAN MARKED IN ST. PETERSBURG
The action started from laying flowers on Heydar Aliyev’s memorial plaque. To honor memory of the nationwide leader, to express condolences to the Azerbaijan people, there came representatives of Administration of Saint Petersburg, members of the government of Leningrad Oblast, representatives of various nationalities living in Saint Petersburg.
The mourning action was opened by the General Consul of Azerbaijan in Saint Petersburg Gudsi Osmanov who has told about the life and political activity of the national leader of Azerbaijan people, has noted his merits before the Motherland and people, his huge contribution to development of the Russian-Azerbaijan interstate relations. Representatives of the Administration of Saint Petersburg have highly estimated Heydar Aliyev’s contribution to the cause of strengthening of the Azerbaijani-Russian friendship. They spoke about his work on high posts in Moscow, about his creative affairs during the period when he was the member of the Politburo.
Chairman of committee on external relations and tourism of the Administration of Saint Petersburg by V. Prokhorenko has expressed his condolence to the Azerbaijan people on behalf of the public of Saint Petersburg.
Representative of the Azerbaijan Diaspora in Saint Petersburg, chairman of the National - Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis of northern capital V. Mamishev has noted Heydar Aliyev’s huge role in establishment of sovereign Azerbaijan, his sensitive attention to compatriots abroad, has told about the purposes and the tasks put by him before the Diaspora.
