Baku, September 3 (AZERTAC). Armenia must refrain from aggressive policy to ensure peace in the region, Chairman of the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Christos Pourgourides said Friday here at a press conference.
Pourgourides said the occupation of the Azerbaijani territories by Armenia contradicts European values and norms and principles of international law. “Armenia must return occupied Nagorno Karabakh and 7 adjacent regions to Azerbaijan.” He stressed official Yerevan must obey the international community`s demands.
Pourgourides also noted he visited Azerbaijan five years ago, adding over the past years the country had developed rapidly. He also praised what had been done in Azerbaijan to strengthen the protection of human rights and freedoms.
