ASSOCIATION OF THE ASTROLOGISTS OF AZERBAIJAN SET UP
The congress was opened by the member of the initiative group, collaborator of the Observatory, PhD Asker Hasanlizade.
The Congress adopted the Charter and By-Law of the Association and elected the Board.
Suleyman Zeynalov, PhD, was elected as the president of the Association of the Azerbaijan Astronomers.
The goal of the foundation of this Association is to unite the astronomers of the Republic in a single organ, direct their scientific researches, and raise efficiency of the scientific investigations, Eyyub Guliyev, member of Board of the newly set Association, director of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory said.
The Association intends to expand international links of the Azerbaijani astronomers, represent the Country in such world organizations as the Association of Astronomy of Europe, International Astronomy Union, as well as the Eurasia Astronomy Association. The Association will prepare astronomic calendars and publish scientific-popular literature to popularize this science.
The Association comprises some 300 specialists.
