AZAL AND «INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS GROUP» SIGN MEMO
The document was signed by the General Director of “AZAL” Jahangir Asgarov and “Intercontinental Hotels Group” Company’s Vice President for Development in Central Europe Peter Vermeer.
Jahangir Asgarov said AZAL’s management welcomes “Intercontinental Hotels Group” Company’s decision to choose AZAL to begin cooperation with.
“Today, due to President Ilham Aliyev’s successful policy to develop regions of the country, “AZAl” is constructing new airports in Lankaran, Ganja and Zaqatala regions, with one already constructed in Nakhchivan. We want to build such hotels in these airports, too, to serve the people on highest world standards”, Jahangir Asgarov said.
Peter Vermeer, for his part, responded with the equal enthusiasm to the beginning cooperation with “AZAL”.
He also expressed his hope that this project would let the Company to start implementation of large-scale projects in Azerbaijan.
The Company will hold training courses for Azerbaijan citizens to make them good hotel employees.
Attending the event, ambassador of the Great Britain to Azerbaijan Lawrence Bristow noted this hotel would bump up the rates of the International Heydar Aliyev Airport, which is the bridge between Europe and the East.
“This is the index to development of the non-oil sector in Azerbaijan, in which AZAL is holding the leading position. Great Britain is keen to develop the non-oil sector in Azerbaijan”, he added.
The “Holiday Inn” hotel, to be constructed on order of the “Silk Road” private company, will have 194 rooms, with eight VIP rooms, one - presidential-suite and four - for invalids.
The completion of construction of the hotel is scheduled for September of this year.
