Azerbaijan expanding AI and “smart village” model in agriculture

A meeting was held between representatives of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the sidelines of the 5th Agribusiness Development Forum.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Ilhama Gadimova emphasized that Azerbaijan is making significant progress in the digital transformation of agriculture, the application of artificial intelligence, farmer-oriented services, and climate-resilient farming, stressing the importance of international cooperation in this regard.
ADB representative Jiangfeng Zhang noted that cooperation with Azerbaijan is a priority for the Bank and expressed interest in expanding joint efforts in sustainable agriculture, water resource management, and innovation.
The meeting discussed digitalization and AI in agriculture, data-driven farmer support, irrigation modernization, water management, agricultural insurance and finance, and climate-resilient farming. It also covered pilot projects, “smart village” and “smart farmer” models, and learning from Asian experience in livestock and agricultural production.
