AZERBAIJAN HAS GOOD CHANCES TO HOST 2016 OLYMPIC GAMES, PATRICK HICKEY
Azerbaijan has good chances to become the host country for the 2016 Olympic Games, said President of the European Olympic Committees Patrick Hickey at a news conference at the State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport in Baku Tuesday.
Mr. Hickey said the list of bidders for the 2016 Olympic Games includes Prague, Madrid and other big cities.
“I think Baku’s launching such a bid will increase its international authority”, the EOC President noted.
Patrick Hickey stressed he ascertained Azerbaijan has good chances to bid for the 2016 Olympics after visiting the country.
“Azerbaijan is doing huge work to improve sports, and newly opened Olympic sports complex in Masally, as well as Azerbaijani athletes’ achievements in world and European championships are the obvious evidence of it”, Patrick Hickey added.
