‘Azerbaijan is close friend of China’
“Azerbaijan is a close friend of China,” said Vice Chairman of Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament Ma Biao as he met First Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov.
He said official Beijing attached great importance to relations with Azerbaijan. Mao Biao said the goal of his visit to Baku was to contribute to developing bilateral ties and interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
The Vice Chairman stressed the importance of the further development of cooperation in humanitarian field.
Mr. Asgarov said Azerbaijan was interested in expanding relations with China on all fronts. He said reciprocal visits contributed to developing ties between the two countries.
The Deputy Speaker hailed economic development of the two countries. He noted that there was ample potential for further deepening relations between Azerbaijan and Chine in a variety of fields, including trade, science, education, healthcare and tourism.
The Vice Speaker provided an insight into the causes and consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
He said Armenia still refused to honor the UN Security Council`s resolutions and documents of the Council of Europe and other international organizations on the settlement of the dispute.
Ma Biao said official Beijing supports the fair resolution of the conflict on the basis of norms of international law.
