Azerbaijan: Results of the first heat
Baku, February 10 (AZERTAC). The first heat of Böyük Səhnə, the Azerbaijani format for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, took place in Baku. 14 candidates showed their best in front of an expert jury. Only ten of them proceeded to the second heat of Böyük Səhnə to be held on February 16th.
The semi-finalists performed different covers of the famous pop songs. The show started with Aphrodisiac, the Greek entry in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, sang by Lala Sultan. Another Eurovision cover was Glorious, the German entry from Malmö sang by Valeria Huseynzadeh (Rilaya).
The five members jury consisted of the famous Azerbaijani singers and people of the show business: Eldar Gasimov (the winner of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest), Murad Arif (theTV host), Tunzala Agayeva (the composer and singer), Mubariz Tagiyev (the Azerbaijani honoured singer), Zumruz Dadashzade (the professor of Baku Music Academy).
Dilara Kazimova performed Mercy by Duffy and got for her cover the highest number of points.
This year’s Azerbaijani format for the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest is Böyük Səhnə that means The Big Stage. The first pre-rounds have already been completed. The second and the third semi-finals are scheduled for February 16th and 23rd. The final of Böyük Səhnə is on March 2nd.
During the last months, the auditions for the Azerbaijani talent show Böyük Səhnə (The Big Stage) have been hold in eight different cities of Azerbaijan: Sumqayit, Lankaran, Shirvan, Quba, Ganja, Shaki, Yevlakh. The tough work, with eight auditions and 250 candidats for the show, had been already done from the side of İTV, the official Azerbaijani broadcaster.
