AZERBAIJAN SCHOOL PUPILS ATTENDED “CIVIL EDUCATION” WEEK IN WASHINGTON
Touching on the “Future Leaders Exchange Program”, Deputy Secretary of State on education and culture Patricia Harrison said to AzerTAj correspondent: “Success of the program carrying out with the former Soviet republics inspired us so much, that Department of State decided to establish the program “Exchange and education of youth” mainly covering the Islamic countries. Pupils living in local families and communicating with American school pupils familiarize with their countries”.
Department of State held a week of “Civil education” in Washington dedicated to the 10th year jubilee of the Program. On this occasion, 125 senior pupils from the former Soviet republics, who became contest winners of the best composition on subject of democracy among 1400 men, attended the arrangements.
Azerbaijan was represented by 8 pupils, who had familiarized with the work of US governmental structures in Washington, basis of democracy and civic responsibility, met with the top-ranking officials of Congress and Department of State, Senators and Congressmen of the states, where they educate and told on Azerbaijan.
The Department of State presented certificates on successful completion of the week “Civil education” to Azerbaijan school pupils.
