AZERBAIJAN, TAJIKISTAN SIGN AGREEMENT ON MILITARY COOPERATION
The same day, Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, colonel-general Safar Abiyev has met the delegation headed by Shirali Khayrulloyev.
Safar Abiyev has noted, that during the meeting of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmonov in December of the last year has been underlined necessity of development of cooperation between two states. And this visit is a step forward in this direction, he stressed.
Touching upon the current situation in the Southern Caucasus, the Minister has noted, that Armenia occupied the Azerbaijani lands, that in Armenia there were concentrated a plenty of weapon and military technics, which subsequently are placed on the occupied territory of Azerbaijan. Shirali Khayrulloyev has noted, that present visit would serve the further deepening of cooperation between two states.
At the meeting, exchanged were views on military-political conditions in the Caucasus and Central Asia, the processes occurring in armed forces of countries, development of cooperation in military sphere and other questions representing mutual interest. The sides have condemned international terrorism, the reactionary separatism in region and emphasized necessity of joint efforts in combat against similar threats.
As a result of meetings, the two defense ministers have signed an Agreement on cooperation between the Government of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Government of the Republic Tajikistan in military sphere.
