Azerbaijan Transport minister meets EU Transport Commissioner
Baku, November 21 (AZERTAC). A delegation of the European Commission led by Siim Kallas, Vice-president of the European Commission and Commissioner responsible for transport, arrived in Baku on Saturday.
During a meeting with Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov the sides discussed the role of transport corridors. The Azerbaijan transport minister dwelled on large-scale transport projects implemented in the country.
“Azerbaijan is a guarantor of peace and stability in the region,” said European Commission Vice-President highly appreciating the role played by the country in Europe’s energy supply.
The EU official said the European Union is interested in an agreement on the establishment of a single air space, triggered by Azerbaijan as a single set of rules, general requirements in the field of aviation will be beneficial for all parties.
The meeting also focused on transportation issues between Azerbaijan and the European Union. The sides exchanged views on cooperation within the framework of the TRACECA program.
