AZERBAIJANI AMBASSADOR PRESENTS HIS CREDENTIALS TO GAMBIAN PRESIDENT
Azerbaijani ambassador to Morocco Sabir Agabeyov presented his credentials on July 18 to President of Gambia Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh as Azerbaijani diplomat will represent Azerbaijan in Gambia as well.
At the meeting, Ambassador Agabeyov told of Azerbaijan`s accomplishments achieved since the country regained its independence, occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories, which driven more than a million of Azerbaijanis from their homes and resulted in destruction of cultural and religious monuments.
On behalf of the official Baku, Agabeyov thanked Gambian President for supporting the UN resolution on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijani diplomat hailed Azerbaijan-Gambia cooperation within international organizations’ including ICT and UN.
Then, Agabeyov gave an interview to Gambian mass media. He touched upon bilateral Gambia-Azerbaijan relations and pointed out to opportunities for cooperation in the fields of education, culture, business, agriculture.
Agabeyov also thanked Gambia for supporting Azerbaijan`s stance towards resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Presentation of credentials was widely covered by Gambia`s local GRTS TV channel and a number of newspapers.
During his visit, Azerbaijani diplomat is set to meet top Gambian officials.
