Azerbaijan, UN Women expand cooperation

On October 7, Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs of Azerbaijan, met with Kaori Ishikawa, Country Representative in Georgia and Liaison for South Caucasus at UN Women.
Discussions centered on empowering women, ensuring their digital safety, and promoting gender equality, as well as other issues.
Bahar Muradova highlighted a number of key projects implemented in partnership with UN Women to advance gender equality and protect women's rights in Azerbaijan. The Committee Chairperson underlined that the initiatives implemented jointly with public institutions and civil society have contributed to the formation of relevant mechanisms, as well as the improvement of legislation.
Underscoring that the "National Action Plan on Gender (Men and Women) Equality" for 2026–2028 is being implemented jointly with relevant institutions, Bahar Muradova pointed out the new opportunities created by the digital transformation, as well as the new challenges and threats emerging for women.
Kaori Ishikawa hailed the current level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN Women, expressing their interest in continuing activities in this area.
During the meeting, the sides also highlighted the importance of participation in regional and global events, discussing prospects for future cooperation, as well as other matters of mutual concern.
