Istanbul hosts 3rd meeting of OTS Ministers of Justice

The 3rd Meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held on October 7 in Istanbul, Türkiye.
The meeting was chaired by Akın Gürlek, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Türkiye, and attended by Farid Ahmadov, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Almaz Aiylchiev, Minister of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic; Akbar Tashkulov, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Botagoz Zhakselekova, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS.
In his address, the OTS Secretary General underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation among the Ministries of Justice of the OTS member states. He provided an overview of the Organization’s ongoing cooperation in the fields of justice, judiciary, and law enforcement, and highlighted the importance of developing concrete and result-oriented areas of cooperation aimed at further deepening institutional relations and enhancing practical collaboration among the relevant authorities.
The ministers exchanged views on the outcomes and follow-up of the 1st and 2nd meetings of the Ministers of Justice of the OTS and shared information on bilateral and multilateral cooperation among their respective ministries. They reaffirmed the importance of further strengthening cooperation in the field of justice and identified avenues for enhancing coordination and practical interaction among the Ministries of Justice of the OTS member states.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the ministers signed the Joint Communiqué of the 3rd Meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the OTS, which sets out concrete areas and priorities for further cooperation. The ministers also expressed their appreciation to Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS, for his valuable contributions to the development and advancement of cooperation within the OTS throughout his tenure.
The ministers agreed to convene the 4th Meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the OTS in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2027.
