Azerbaijani FM addresses meeting of CIS Council of Foreign Ministers

As part of his working visit to Turkmenistan, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended and delivered a speech at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Awaza.
In his address, Minister Bayramov emphasized that amid growing global turbulence, interaction based on mutual respect, predictability, and strict adherence to the fundamental norms and principles of international law remains a crucial factor for regional stability, security, and sustainable development.
He noted the 35th anniversary of the CIS, highlighting its enduring role as an important platform for equal dialogue and mutually beneficial multilateral cooperation.
The Azerbaijani FM emphasized the significance of deepening humanitarian ties, including the 2027–2028 Action Plan featuring more than 200 events, and commended the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation for supporting more than 1,000 projects on the occasion of its 20th anniversary.
Minister Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan’s vital contributions to regional cultural and youth exchanges through the successful hosting of the 3rd CIS Games and the extensive cultural program organized in Lachin, designated as the “CIS Cultural Capital 2025.”
The FM noted positive dynamics in trade turnover with CIS member states, reaffirming mutual interest in expanding economic ties and implementing joint projects.
Bayramov detailed Azerbaijan’s growing role in regional and international transport logistics, driven by large-scale infrastructure investments, the modernization of port and railway networks, and the consistent development of the East-West and North-South transport corridors.
The Foreign Minister reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s unwavering commitment to good-neighborly relations and wished Uzbekistan every success during its upcoming CIS chairmanship.
