Baku, October 8, AZERTAC
The 4th International Conference in the Baku Dialogue format on “Strengthening Trust and Developing Effective Mechanisms in Addressing the Issue of Missing Persons” is underway in Baku.
Organized by Azerbaijan’s State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, the second day of the conference will feature a series of panel discussions addressing the missing persons in peace processes: humanitarian cooperation and confidence-building measures; from burial sites to identification: national approaches and best practices; and beyond the search: the long-term impact of missing persons on families and communities.
The forum will bring together experts to discuss forensic and scientific approaches to the identification of missing persons, including advances in forensic examination, molecular genetics and DNA-based identification.
The conference is also expected to conclude with the adoption of a final declaration.
