AZERBAIJANI EXPERTS TAKE PART IN SEMINAR ON TERRORISM IN MOSCOW
The seminar became for the high-ranking officials of the CIS states a forum on which have been considered the progress achieved in the field of ratification and legislative implementation of 12 universal conventions and reports on struggle against the international terrorism, and also increase of the level of participation of the countries in the international cooperation on combat against terrorism.
Representative of Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic, the expert of the United Nations on combat against terrorism Nizami Safarov delivered a lecture on the topic “Implementation of universal antiterrorist tools on national level”. He gave basic attention to measures of the legislative plan which have been accepted by Azerbaijan in sphere of combat against the international terrorism and has analyzed the antiterrorist legislation of the country. In particular, he has in detail informed participants of the seminar on acceptance of the law of the Azerbaijan Republic on combat against terrorism, has presented the detailed analysis of the new criminal legislation devoted to combat against terrorism and separatism, and also other acts regulating combat against these criminal actions. “Azerbaijan last years became a range for terrorism and separatism, has noted N. Safarov, “and our country is a victim of this phenomenon with all its consequences, therefore Azerbaijan as a victim of the international terrorism is interested in strengthening combat against this terrible evil and widespread cooperation in this sphere. In these purposes, it also improves the legislative system”.
The high estimation of the international experts was received measures taken by Azerbaijan in the relevant legislation on extradition, allowing without any problems of legal character to give out the terrorists who are in search. And it has been recognized as the big success of legal system of Azerbaijan. Special accent has been made thus on absence of the similar law in other CIS countries. Experts of the United Nations and other participants of seminar as a whole highly have estimated legislative initiatives of Azerbaijan in this direction.
