Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker meets incoming Lithuanian Ambassador
Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov has met newly appointed Ambassador of Lithuania Valdas Lastauskas.
Mr. Asadov expressed confidence that the incoming Ambassador would spare no efforts to strengthen Azerbaijani-Lithuanian relations.
The Speaker said Azerbaijan was interested in deepening cooperation with Lithuania. “The negotiations held by the two countries` presidents during reciprocal visits and the documents signed between the two countries pave the way for the development of our relations,” Mr. Asadov said.
He praised the activity of inter-parliamentary friendship groups at both countries` parliaments.
Mr. Asadov said regular meetings of parliamentarians and their discussing topical issues in international organizations “serve common values of our countries”.
The Speaker said there were good opportunities for boosting cooperation between the two countries in energy, tourism and cultural fields.
Mr. Lastauskas said he would try his best to develop Lithuanian-Azerbaijani relations during his diplomatic tenure in Baku.
He expressed his country`s keenness to deepen relations with Azerbaijan in various fields.
