AZERI DELEGATION ATTENDS EBRD ANNUAL MEETING
Addressing the participants, EBRD President Jean Lemier noted that the bank has allocated € 4,3 bln to implement 151 projects in 2005 and would further promote in conducting of the reforms, improvement of the infrastructure, support of small and medium-sized business and development of the banking sector.
Azeri Minister Heydar Babayev dwelt on economy indicator of Azerbaijan, investment milieu, regional projects. Occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia is a main obstacle for integration of Central Asia and Caucasus, Mr. Babayev said. He offered to hold the next EBRD meeting in Baku, as well.
The delegation met with the officials of EBRD to discuss today’s state of cooperation. Minister reminded that EBRD has allotted over € 600 mln to Azerbaijan.
Heads of over 10 banks of Azerbaijan have also attended the business-forum in framework of the annual meeting. The private banks of Azerbaijan and EBRD have signed credit agreement in total amount of € 13,5 thousand to develop small and medium-sized entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan.
