Azeri FM meets permanent representatives of several countries to UN
Baku, August 25 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has met today with visiting permanent representatives of Cambodia, Benin, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritius, Namibia, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Sri-Lanka, Jamaica and Zimbabwe to the United Nations.
According to press service of the Ministry, Mammadyarov briefed the UN delegation on Azerbaijan`s successes since the country`s regaining its independence.
The Minister has also spoke of Azerbaijan`s energy policy, its providing the world market with s hydrocarbon resources, participation in Silk Road transport projects, Baku-Tbilisi-Gars railway and other regional and international projects.
Touching upon Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Mammadyarov stressed the international community considers the status-quo unacceptable, adding the conflict “must be settled only on the basis of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”.
Mammadyarov has called the permanent representatives at the UN to back Azerbaijan`s candidacy for non-permanent membership at the UN Security Council for 2012-2013.
The meeting has also discussed ongoing developments in Azerbaijan and in the region.
