Azeri FM visiting Georgia
Baku, October 16 (AZERTAC). The Azerbaijan delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov visited Georgia. The delegation held a meeting with Georgian FM Grigol Vashadze. The meetings in private and in presence of delegations were followed by a press conference of the two states` foreign ministers. The ministers touched upon the situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and Georgia, realization of infrastructure projects, including the construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, cooperation in the field of culture and education.
On October 15 Elmar Mammadyarov visited Marneuli, a small city in the Kvemo Kartli-Borchali region of southern Georgia, and met with Azerbaijani residents of region. David Kirkitadze, Governor of Kvemo Kartli-Borchali region, also was present at the meeting. The participants expressed gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva for the reconstruction of Azerbaijani-speaking schools and other kinds of support.
During the visit to Marneuli, Azeri delegation also participated in the inauguration of the bas-relief to the outstanding statesman Eyvaz Hasanov.
On October 15 the Azeri FM also met with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Prime Minister Nikoloz Gilauri. The visit wrapped up on the same day.
