Azeri ombudswoman meets OSCE ODIHR official
Baku, October 16 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani commissioner for human rights Elmira Suleymanova has met head of an observation mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Audrey Glover.
Suleymanova said strengthening the protection of voting rights had been the priority issue for the Azerbaijani government taking into consideration the country`s being on the threshold of the parliamentary elections.
She stressed the importance of the President`s relevant executive orders, and changes and supplements made to the Election Code.
Suleymanova praised the Ombudsman Office`s cooperation with the Central Election Commission.
Glover hailed the Ombudsman Office`s work, in particular its efforts towards strengthening the protection of human rights and freedoms in the country.
