Baku, December 17, AZERTAC
Representatives of the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization (AZSTAND), operating under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as members of the Technical Committee for Standardization on Information and Communication Technologies (AZSTAND/TK 05), participated in the International Artificial Intelligence Standards Summit held in Seoul, the Republic of Korea.
The Summit was co-organized by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS). The event brought together more than 300 representatives from government and business communities from 65 countries.
The Summit served as an important platform for addressing complex challenges related to artificial intelligence, while promoting the development and implementation of AI standards that ensure reliability, sustainability, and respect for human rights. Discussions focused on the role of international standards as practical tools for businesses and as a bridge between regulatory frameworks. By fostering trust, mitigating risks, and reducing trade barriers, international standards contribute to a coherent global approach to AI design and governance.
At the conclusion of the Summit, the Seoul Declaration was adopted. The document outlines key criteria for developing appropriate AI standards while respecting human rights and upholding ethical principles in the application of artificial intelligence.
The International AI Standards Summit 2025 is a high-level global forum aimed at shaping discussions on AI design, governance, and standardization. As artificial intelligence continues to transform industries and societies, the Summit provides an opportunity for senior public- and private-sector leaders to exchange views and collaborate on practical approaches. It also offers a valuable platform for considering AI from a socio-technical perspective to ensure safety, interoperability, sustainability, and responsible use through international standards.
