BAKU CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES
Having considered the address, according to the Article 7.1 of the Law of Azerbaijan Republic “On freedom of assembly”, for protection of public interests, prevention of violation of public order, unrest and crimes, as well as in view of respect for the rights and freedoms of others, it was restricted to hold the procession-rally in the center of capital with permission of its replacement. The organizers of assembly were warned by the Police Department and the Prosecutor General Office on this, officially offered them five places in the capital to conduct the action and also on prevention of the action in case of its conducting in other places.
Despite of this, the organizers and some 200 members of other radical opposition parties, beginning from 16.00 pm on 23 October in small groups have attempted to gather in the center of city, mainly in Nizami Street, before the Samad Vurgun Russian Drama Theater and around the Nariman Narimanov cinema, moving towards the 28 May metro station.
As a result of measures undertaken by the law-enforcement bodies to perform its official duty, the unsanctioned rally and violation of public order was prevented.
Some 15 participants of the action were detained.
Investigation to the case was launched.
