Baku hosts briefing for media entities on snap parliamentary elections

A briefing for the media entities regarding the upcoming snap parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan scheduled for September 1, 2024 was held in Baku on Thursday.
Co-organized by Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC), Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency, the Audiovisual and Press Councils, the briefing focused on topics such as the equal opportunities in conducting pre-election campaign, as well as the primary activities of the media entities during the elections.
Addressing the meeting, Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, highlighted the role of media entities in covering elections, noting that they have high expectations from them.
Commending the activity of media representatives, Panahov emphasized the significant role of media worldwide.
Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, described the parliamentary elections as a milestone event in the socio-political life of the country, and a top item on the media agenda. He added that all the necessary conditions had been created for the media entities to perform their professional duties in successful coverage of the democratic and transparent elections, typical for the country’s political environment.
In his remarks, Ismat Sattarov, Chairman of the Audiovisual Council, pointed out that the pre-election campaign starts 23 days prior to the voting day and ends 24 hours prior to the start of the voting day.
Rashad Majid, Chairman of the Press Council, noted that the Press Council will launch a hotline for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The chairman described media entities as the best promotion platform for the candidates and the future MPs to address their voters.
