Baku hosts K-1 World Grand Prix tournament
Baku, February 24 (AZERTAC). The K-1 Max Final Four Grand Prix has been held in Baku.
Official representative of K-1 in Azerbaijan and Middle East, President of “Best of the Best” Promotion, European Champion Elnur Mammadov noted that Azerbaijani athletes have been gearing up for this competition for long time and this is a good opportunity for them to get recognized.
He also noted that Azerbaijan is recognized around the world as a sport nation thanks to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev`s care and attention for sports.
The event also was attended by K-1 owner Michael Kim, Director of K-1 Global Holding Ned Kuruc.
Azerbaijani Ruslan Kobzov weighing in at 83kg won Dutch Denniz Ippema, Alim Nabiyev at 71g beat British Chud Sugden, Ziya Bayramov at 77kg outclassed Moroccan Omar al Amraniye and Tural Byramov at 72kg emerged victory over German Marco Groh.
The winners in other bouts included Samet Keser (85kg, Turkey), George Colin (over 100kg, Surinam), Zakariyya Zougarry (63kg, Morocco), Miodrag Olar (72kg, Romania), and Cedrik Manhoef (71kg, Surinam)
Thai fighter Buakaw Banchamek defeated Sung Hyung Le from Korea. In other semi-final, German Enriko Kehl beat Canadian Shane Campbell.
The Competition was broadcast by more than 150 countries’ channels.
