BAKU-HOUSTON: 30 YEARS ELAPSE SINCE FRATERNIZATION
The city of Houston known as a power industry and international trade center and large port is one of the places where live large community of Azerbaijanis. Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Washington Hafiz Pashayev has recently visited Houston, met with the Azeri Diaspora here and had discussions with the city officials.
Mr. Pashayev, speaking to correspondent of AZERTAC, said: “Today, the Azeri Diaspora in Houston is more active and well organized. As Baku, the city of Houston also preserves the image of oil industry center, in addition, having applied modern technologies in the non-oil spheres, has developed much. In this sense, Baku has a lot to learn from Houston. Activating the work of the Twins Cities Association next year, we shall bring closer the two cities”.
Hafiz Pashayev, in the frame of his visit to Houston, has met the WTO section director Jeff Moseley. Discussed was the question to support initiatives of the Baku-Houston Twins Cities Association, as well as encourage cooperation between the USA and Azerbaijani companies.
In his letter, the Mayor of Houston Bill White sent to the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, stressed necessity of opening of the consulate of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Houston, expansion of links between the Mayors of two cities to give impetus to bilateral relations.
