Baku to host Ministerial Conference on 10th anniversary of CAREC
Baku, November 21 (AZERTAC). The Ministerial Conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) will be held in Azerbaijan`s capital on November 23-25.
The attendees will discuss achievements gained over 10 years and exchange views on integration and globalization.
CAREC 2020 strategy which serves to contribute to expand trade, improving competitiveness durability, will be launched at the conference.
Financing of CAREC projects over the next 10 years will also be discussed by representatives of donor agencies from Japan, the US, the UK and others at the Development Partners Forum.
Azerbaijan has invested almost 3 billion USD in CAREC projects aiming improvement of living standards of people since joining to this organization in 2002.
CAREC was initiated in 1997. The organization`s goal is to improve living standards and to reduce poverty in CAREC countries through more efficient and effective regional economic cooperation. To date, the Program has focused on financing infrastructure projects and improving the region's policy environment in the priority areas of transport, energy, trade policy, and trade facilitation.
