Baku, October 25 (AZERTAC). At least 18 people were killed and over 30 injured as a bus plunged into a deep gorge in northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh yesterday.

The state-owned Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation bus, carrying over 60 passengers, with a large number of them travelling on the roof, was on its way from Bilaspur to Bandla.

The accident took place near Danoh, 5km from Bilaspur town, Deputy Commissioner Ritesh Chauhan of Bilaspur said.

Eighteen bodies were recovered while some more were feared trapped under the wreckage of the bus or scattered along the hillside, he said.

Most of the deceased, who were yet to be identified, were migrant labourers and efforts were on to identify the local victims.
