Chairman of the Azerbaijan Press Council Aflatun Amashov on 5 July has met with the visiting Canadian journalists - editor-in-chief of the magazine “Esprit de Corps: Canadian Military” Scott Taylor, contributors of the newspapers “Montreal Mirror” and “Ottawa Citizen” Christian Oravenor and Charles Enman, the Press Council’s spokesman said.

In the meeting, exchanged were views on current state of the country’s press, expansion of mutual ties.

It was stated that as the society, the country’s press organs are also re-established. Noting that the mass media in the Republic has large opportunities to operate, Mr. Amashov said ‘some three thousands media organs have been registered in the country’.

As was marked, necessary measures are undertaken on state level to remove the problems related to press.

In the meeting, the Canadian journalists were informed on the mechanism of activity of the Press Council, the actions it implements related to freedom of speech and press.
