CHAIRMAN OF IRAN’S MAJLIS VISITS GANJA
Chairman of Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel and his accompanying delegation visited Saturday Ganja, the second largest city in Azerbaijan, as part of their trip to the country.
Upon their arrival, the Iranian delegation performed a prayer in the 16th-century Shah Abbas mosque.
Haddad-Adel had a conversation with Ganja’s religious figures.
Representative of Caucasian Muslims’ Board in Ganja Haji Tahir presented Haddad-Adel with a Quran.
After that, Haddad-Adel visited the Ganja Executive Power where he was welcomed by the city`s Governor Eldar Azizov, first vice-speaker of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament) Ziyafat Asgarov, MP Asef Hajiyev, Head of International Relations Department at the Milli Majlis Rashid Ibrahimov and Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Iran Abbasali Hasanov.
Eldar Azizov stressed the role of mutual visits by the two countries` leaders in strengthening Azerbaijan-Iran relations.
Haddad-Adel expressed his gratitude for hospitality given to him and his entourage, and said he is satisfied with the meetings he had held during his visit.
The Iranian delegation also visited the grave of Azerbaijan`s great poet Nizami Ganjavi and viewed the ancient Ganja gate.
Later the same day, they ended their visit and headed to Iran.
At then Ganja airport, Haddad-Adel was seen off by Ziyafat Asgarov and other senior officials.
