Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Plaza
Baku, November 12 (AZERTAC). The 2011 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be lit for the first time on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 with live and taped performances from 7 P.M. - 9 P.M., at Rockefeller Plaza, between West 48th & West 51st Streets and 5th and 6th Avenues, Manhattan.
The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a world-wide symbol of the holidays in New York City. The tree, traditionally a Norway Spruce, is illuminated by 30,000 environmentally friendly LED lights on five miles of wire, and crowned by a Swarovski crystal star. Tens of thousands crowd the sidewalks for the event and hundreds of millions watch the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
November 30, the last day of autumn, a ceremony of lighting the main Christmas tree USA. Giant spruce height 22,5 m will be installed at the central square of New York`s Rockefeller Plaza in mid-November. It took workers several weeks to decorate this gigantic green beauty: a garland for decoration, used a length of 8 kilometers from the 30,000 light bulbs and eat the top capped a huge star from Swarovski crystals. The annual opening ceremony of the Christmas tree is an important tradition initiated by the 30`s, during the Great Depression. How many years before, in the ceremony to light the lights on the fir, whose age is 75 years old, attended the well-known singers, actors and journalists.
