CIS ENERGY COUNCIL SESSION HELD IN GEORGIA
The 28th Session of the CIS Energy Council held recently in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi has brought together representatives of the Commonwealth countries, the Islamic Republiv of Iran as well as the European Economic Association and other international organizations.
During the Session, Chairman of the Unified Energy Systems of Russia Anatoliy Chubays was re-elected the President of the Council for another 2 year term as Tajik Energy Minister Jurabek Nurmakhmatov became its Vice-president.
Speaking at the event A. Chubays pointed out the importance of the trilateral Russia-Azerbaijan-Iran project implemented in Azerbaijan noting the three countries’ power systems will be synchronized as the project is completed in 2007.
Azerbaijan was represented by Vice-President of the Joint Stock Company Azerenergy Marlen Asgarov, Deputy Chief of Azerenergy’s Central Control Service Ilham Agasiyev and Chief of the Power Industry Department at the Ministry of Fuel and Energy Vidadi Hasanov.
