CIS EXECUTIVE SECRETARY VLADIMIR RUSHAILO ARRIVES IN BAKU
Responding to questions of the media representatives on the goals of his visit, Vladimir Rushailo said as is known on 6 November Azerbaijan is to conduct parliamentary elections, and in compliance with the decision of the CIS Council of the Heads of State, a month prior to elections is formed and starts working the observation mission. We plan on 6 October to open in Baku a headquarters of the mission to observe the elections. The observation mission is formed of the CIS representatives, we have sent an appropriate letter to the Commonwealth states, whereby it is pointed the number of observers form each member country.
Answering the question on the role of CIS Executive Committee on settlement of the Armenia0-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mr. Vladimir Rushailo underlined that in accordance with relevant legal base, the activity sphere of CIS also includes peace-building mission. However, mainly, the OSCE Minsk Group is engaged in this conflict, but we also take part I the working consultations.
