COE ENCOURAGES CREATION OF NATIONAL MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION
Opening the action, the COE expert Queen Masters said the goal is to raise effectiveness of the Azerbaijan local self-government bodies, creation of the National Municipal Association, as well as promotion to development of the links with the international municipal organizations and the European local authorities.
Representative of the President Administration Rahim Abbasov expressed gratitude for such an action and support for creation of National Municipal Association. He said Azerbaijan intensively integrates to Europe and does a lot to raise efficiency of work of the municipalities. The country has acceded to the European Charter and adopted progressive laws on municipalities, he underlined. To acquire advanced experience of the European countries in this field is necessary and therefore creation of the National Municipal Association is noteworthy.
COE Secretary General’s special representative in Azerbaijan Mats Lindbergh, representatives of numerous republican ministries and departments, as well as from Georgia, Norway and Estonia has attended the action.
The seminar will continue on December 9.
