CONFERENCE DEVOTED TO APPLICATION OF UN CONVENTION CONCERNING WOMEN
The vice-chairperson of Committee Mominat Omarova has told about value of the Convention, has informed on the work done by the United Nations in this direction, has emphasized importance of application of positions of this document in the country. She has noted, that the first report of Azerbaijan on realization of the Convention has been submitted in Committee of CEDAW of the United Nations in 1996 and has received positive estimation. On its basis, were applied a number of the acts directed on improvement of the position of women in the country, and corresponding measures carried out.
The head of the organization ABA CEELI on the country representative Ms. Lynn Sferazza, the national project coordinator of UN Fund of Development of Women (UNIFEM) Gulshen Pashayeva, chairperson of the Society “Women In Petroleum Industry” Solmaz Hajiyeva and others have emphasized, that CEDAW is the basic international document on protection of the rights of women, have noted the role of the non-governmental organizations in its application.
