EC REPRESENTATIVE APPRAISES AZERBAIJAN’S POLICY OF INTEGRATION TO THE WEST
Expressing gratitude for warm reception, Mr. Fokion Fotiadis appreciated the Azerbaijan’s policy of integration to the West, underlining that the achieved results would serve interests of both sides.
In meeting, discussed were issues related to the talks on the Plan of Activity on Azerbaijan in the frames of EU’s New Neighborhood Policy, the issues of expansion of cooperation between EU and the country. The sides noted that the Plan of Activity could be considered as agreed.
Minister Mammadyarov spoke of large-scale economic projects being implemented in region, the integration of Azerbaijan to the European space, and stressed necessity of cooperation in the field of culture, education and other fields.
Touching upon the negotiations concerning the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mr. Mammadyarov stressed necessity of peaceful settlement of the conflict, and urgency of activation of efforts of the world community, including the European Union in this direction.
In meeting, also discussed were other issues of mutual interest.
