ECO COUNCIL OF MINISTERS TO HOLD ITS 16TH MEETING IN BAKU
The 15th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization took place in capital of Kazakhstan, Astana on October 1. Speaking at the event Head of the Azerbaijani delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister of the country Mahmud Mammadguliyev stressed the need to establish Center for Strategic Studies and Trade and Development Bank within the organization, attract regional and global financial institutions to ECO projects, and take steps towards enhancing its cooperation with other regional organizations, first of all with the European Union.
Besides, the 15th COM reviewed the reports of the meetings of the Council of Permanent Representatives (CPR), ECO Secretariat’s Budget for 2005 as well as the reports of the other sectoral ministerial meeting held after the 14th COM meeting in 2004, as well as deliberated on the implementation of ECO Trade Agreement (ECOTA) and Transit Trade Framework Agreement (TTFA) and urged the member states to ratify these agreements in order to pave the way for their early implementation.
The Council of Ministers has decided to hold its next 16th meeting in Baku.
