ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEMOCRATIC CONDITIONS IN AZERBAIJAN HIGHLY ESTIMATED IN PARIS
The president of the Center Jean-Eave Chevalier has noted, that in structure of the international group he observed the November lat year parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, and has told, that elections had passed according to principles of democracy and in transparent conditions, that presence of plenty of candidates in comparison with the previous elections speaks that the country develops on the way of democracy, has noted the bright victory of the “Yeni Azerbaijan” Party.
Jean Perren who was the first ambassador of France to Azerbaijan, has shortly informed on geographical position of Azerbaijan, its territory, the population, economic situation, socio-political conditions, has noted, that in 1992-1993, Azerbaijan which has found independence, has met greater difficulties, its independence was threatened with serious danger, and that, on the one hand, the occupational policy pursued by neighboring Armenia, and on another - the condition of a paralysis in economy, have led in Azerbaijan to crisis. He has especially emphasized, that returning during such period at will and to the requirement of people of the far-sighted politician, professional statesman Heydar Aliyev to power has rescued Azerbaijan from expected threats and has led it on the way of economic development.
J. Perren has reminded that the position of Azerbaijan on strategic “Silk Road” has great value for the country and that elections in democratic conditions was a basis for the further stability in the country and that this stability corresponds to interests of the countries cooperating with Azerbaijan.
Speakers have noted, that there were no any conditions in Azerbaijan for “color revolutions”. In Azerbaijan, from the economic point of view experiencing process of intensive development, there is no ground for this purpose. If not to consider infringements on some sites, as a whole, parliamentary elections have passed in normal conditions, according to the international standards and democratic norms. And cancellation on 10 sites of the results of elections has once again proved, that in Azerbaijan democracy develops. Elections in Azerbaijan did not differ at all from elections in the advanced countries, and it was on the contrary recommended, that other countries made use of the experience, which has been saved up by Azerbaijan in this sphere.
In performances, it has been especially underlined, that the interested participation of youth in election process testifies to its active role in political life of the country, was noted, that causes feeling of regret that some press organs of France on the pages cast a shadow on the elections carried out in democratic conditions. Also has been underlined economic growth of the country, that alongside with oil and gas sector, has raised the attention to development of non-oil spheres, has increased industrial outputs, the state is interested in social and economic development of regions and in this connection a special program is being carried out. It was marked, that in spite of the fact that 20 percent of territory are under occupation, that in the country there was a problem of more than one million refugees and IDPs, Azerbaijan in region of Southern Caucasus turns to the powerful state. It has been noted that Azerbaijan adjoining on a number of the countries, carries out the policy, adjusts all-round communications with all next states, except for Armenia, also has been stated the criticism to address of the Europe giving of few attention to Azerbaijan in solution of some problems.
The first secretary of embassy of Azerbaijan in France Masim Mammadov has expressed gratitude for objective estimation given by speakers in regard with elections, positions of Azerbaijan on international scene. He dwelt on the reforms carried out under guidance of President Ilham Aliyev, on transformations occurring in the country.
Having touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, M. Mammadov has in detail informed on the problems, which have arisen in connection with it, has noted, that the conflict represents real threat for stability in region. He has noted, that the position held by Armenia, has put the country outside of all regional projects, the national economy has reached paralysis. All know that without settlement of the conflict there will not be stability and cooperation in region. Azerbaijan is the supporter of settlement of the conflict by peace, according to norms of international law and within the limits of protection and preservation of territorial integrity of the country.
At the gathering, presenting was the ambassador of Azerbaijan in Paris Tarik Aliyev, representatives of the French public and diplomatic corps accredited in this country, Azeri Diaspora and employees of embassy.
