ELECTIONS TRANSPARENT AND FAIR, SAY INDEPENDENT AMERICAN OBSERVERS
A group of independent American observers led by former Governor of the state of Missouri Mr. Bob Holden told a press conference that the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan were held in a fair and democratic atmosphere. The observers advised that having divided into two groups, they had monitored 52 polling stations in 17 election districts from opening to closing of the poll. According to them, they witnessed journalists freely observing the election process along with foreign observers and those representing opposition who were provided with normal conditions to do so. “We did not see serious irregularities,” they said. The American observers described these elections as a new step on Azerbaijan’s path towards democracy, and congratulated the people of the country on the democratic elections. They also answered questions from journalists.
