President of the European Olympic Committees Patrick Hickey has arrived in Baku today.

Mr. Hickey began his visit with talks with Vice President of Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzade and Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, who informed the guest about what has been done so far to improve sport in the country.

The sides agreed that the EOC President’s current visit will boost the bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Organization.

Patrick Hickey praised Azerbaijani athletes’ achievements in the international sports arena.

The EOC President also visited the “Sehirli ilmeler” carpet gallery of the "Azer-ilme" company.

The company’s head Vidadi Muradov informed the guest about the history of carpet making in Azerbaijan.

Patrick Hickey viewed the gallery, and then signed its Guest Book.

Vidadi Muradov said the “Azer-ilme” company’s’ carpets won a number of international awards in the USA, Germany, Britain, Italy, Japan, Austria, Russia and other countries.

The President of the European Olympic Committees was presented with a photo album and a carpet.
