Estonian newspaper “Postimes” writes on “leading states of S. Caucasus”
Tallinn, April 30 (AZERTAC). The Estonian influential newspaper “Postimes” has posted an article entitled “Leading states of the South Caucasus”.
The author, Khardo Aasmae, who objects to approach to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia from the same parameters, analyzes history and socio-political situation of the three countries separately.
According to Aasmae, dislike its neighbors, in Azerbaijan the people played a key role in formation of the society.
Talking about the history, Aasmae writes that in 1918 Armenians perpetrated bloody massacres in Baku killing 12 thousand people only in the capital of Azerbaijan.
The author describes Azerbaijan as “the most economically powerful state” among the South Caucasus countries, saying “therefore, the European experience was applied first here”.
He also notes the role of Nobel brothers and British companies in development of the oil industry here. The article says the Soviet empire annihilated this tradition in 1920 and 120 thousand Azerbaijanis were exiled to Siberia.
On Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Aasmae notes that Armenia occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories.
The author writes about dynamic development of Azerbaijan, saying the country`s economy accounts for 75 percent of the overall South Caucasus economy, while Georgia`s share averages 15 percent and Armenia`s - 10 percent.
