European Alliance of New Agencies holds its General Assembly in Zurich
Armenia's Armenpress news agency was rejected for EANA membership

The European Alliance of News Agencies has held its next General Assembly in Zurich, Switzerland. Having been a member of the Alliance since 2008, AZERTAC also attended the Assembly.
The President of the Alliance, the CEO of Austria's APA news agency, Clemens Pig, put the issues on the agenda into discussion and noted that the Alliance would continue projects in order to be more useful for member agencies and expand exchange of experience within the Alliance.
Elections were held to the management body of the Alliance within the framework of the General Assembly. The Chief Executive Officer of Italy's ANSA news agency, Stefano de Alessandri, was nominated to replace the outgoing member of the Board of the Alliance, the Chief Executive of the UK's Press Association (PA) Media Group, Clive Marshall, whose term in office expired, and his nomination was endorsed.
In addition, diplomas were presented to the winners of the Alliance's Excellence Award - Spain's EFE and the UK's PA news agencies.
At the General Assembly, the nominations of national news agencies of some countries for membership in the EANA were put on vote. Following the results of the vote, the nomination of Armenia's Armenpress news agency was not endorsed, while KosovoPress news agency was elected a member of the EANA with the majority of votes.
It was decided to hold the next meetings of the Alliance in Brussels, Paris and Lisbon. At the same time, Anadolu Agency proposed organizing one of the next General Assemblies in Turkiye.
