FOREIGN MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN MEETS DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER OF JAPAN
Noting that President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Japan in March of this year played important role in strengthening of relations between two counties, Ms. Yamanaka also stressed the value of the signed agreements in development of cooperation of two states. At he words, Japan attaches special attention to friendly relations between Japan and Azerbaijan. She gave high assessment to the works done for development of democracy and free market economy in the Republic. According to her, Japan stands ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan in development of pharmacology, production of air conditioners, also assist the small and medium entrepreneurship.
The Japanese diplomat said economic growth of Azerbaijan would benefit strengthening of peace and stability in the South Caucasus, emphasizing that her country supports peaceful solution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed importance of Azerbaijan P{resident’s official visit to Japan, reminded the joint Statement made during the visit, as well highly estimated the cooperation of two counties in the frame of United Nations. Noting the necessity of reforms in the United Nations, Minister Mammadyarov expressed confidence that in case of expansion of the UN Security Council, as a permanent member of the Council, Japan would play special role in strengthening of peace and tranquility in the world.
Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan said the aggression and ethnic cleanse policy of Armenia against Azerbaijan is a great obstacle for stability in region. According to him, settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict is possible stage-by-stage. He updated the guest on the negotiation process in this direction.
Minister Mammadyarov informed about the regional projects being carried out in Azerbaijan, also highlighted on the inauguration of BTC MEP taken place in Turkey.
In the meeting, also focused were other questions of mutual interest. A briefing was held for media representatives.
