FOREIGN MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN MEETS HIS IRANIAN COLLEAGUE
Mr. Mammadyarov expressed pleasure with the visit of Mr. Mottaki to Baku, extended condolence to families of the victims killed as a result of quakes in Iran.
The guest highly estimated the assistance Azerbaijan rendered to the people of Iran in difficult moments.
Minister Mammadyarov said significant steps were made in development of the relations between two countries during the official visits of the heads of state. He highly estimated the agreement on gas supply Iran provides for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Congratulating the people of Azerbaijan on successful parliamentary elections, the guest said the Iranian observers were pleased with the campaign. Iran attaches great importance to the inter-parliamentary links between two countries, the diplomat underlined.
Noting that the November 6 parliamentary elections were a step forward in comparison with the previous ones, Minister Mammadyarov stressed the necessity of cooperation for expansion of activity of the parliamentary friendship groups.
The Iranian diplomat especially emphasized the role of mass media in development of the relations between two neighboring countries.
The guest dwelt on issues of safety and legal status of the Caspian, naming it the sea of peace and friendship, also underlined necessity of joint actions to reach certain agreement.
Minister Mammadyarov spoke of history of the bilateral relations, dwelt on common cultural roots of the two nations and their role for further rapprochement.
Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the guest said his country always supported territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The sides agreed on acceleration of work of the joint inter-governmental commissions for realization of economic projects.
In the meeting, also were exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest.
The sides have also signed Memorandum on simplification of visa regime for the citizens of Nakhchivan AR and IRI.
