FOREIGN MINISTERS OF AZERBAIJAN AND IRAN HOLD NEWS CONFERENCE
Foreign minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov spoke of the meeting with his Iranian colleague Menuchehr Mottaki that passed in a friendly and sincere atmosphere, highlighted on the negotiations on the projects being realized in region, noting that significant documents are expected to be signed.
Mr. Mottaki expressed pleasure with the meetings he had in Baku, stating the goal of the visit was to have exchange of views on further close cultural, trade, economic links and efficient use of the existing cooperation ties between the two friendly countries, to find ways of solution of some questions of mutual interest.
Noting that the November 6 parliamentary elections have passed in free, democratic and fair conditions and reflected will of the people, Mr. Mottaki said his country recognizes territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The Iranian minister also said his country always promoted settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh problem, rendered humanitarian assistance to the refugees and IDPs, and would continue this policy.
As the guest stated also will be discussed the issues of application of simplified visa regime between the two countries, construction of Azerbaijan-Iran railway to connect Azerbaijan with the Persian Gulf, realization of the North-South transport corridor, legal status of the Caspian, fuel-energy problems of Nakhchivan and others.
