Frequency dictionary in Azerbaijani language developed
Baku, November 10 (AZERTAC). A Frequency dictionary in Azerbaijani language was developed as part of the project Dilmanc, implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan jointly with the Azerbaijani representation of the UNDP.
Statistic-linguistic analysis of the texts consisting of approximately 50 million word forms, including all styles of the Azerbaijani language was carried out while compiling the dictionary. The presence of electronic versions of materials of scientific, artistic, journalistic, official, domestic and other content made it possible to conduct a comprehensive and reliable analysis in terms of statistical selection with the aim of creating the dictionary. The dictionary covers up to about 12,000 root words.Linguists, teachers of secondary and higher educational institutions and mass media representatives can take advantages of the new dictionary.
