Gerard Martin renews his contract with Barcelona

FC Barcelona and Gerard Martín have reached an agreement to extend the player's contract with the club until 30 June 2028, according to the official website of the club.
The defender put pen to paper on Thursday at midday in the presence of Barça president Joan Laporta, the director responsible for youth football Joan Soler, sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza (Deco) and the director for youth football José Ramon Alexanco.
Born 26 February 2002, Martin joined Barça Atlètic in the summer of 2023. Rafa Márquez made extensive use of him in 41 domestic fixtures, while the defender was also called up frequently as cover for the senior team, getting his first playing time in the friendly against Club America in Dallas just before Christmas of 2023.
He also got to play some of the US tour in the summer, before finally making his competitive debut in the opening game of the league season away to Valencia. coming on as 63rd minute replacement for Alejandro Balde, with the number 35 on his back.
Since then, Hansi Flick has used his services in ten further Liga encounters, and the youngster has also featured in Champions League, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup matches, helping the team to win the trophy in the latter.
